Apple iPhone

Everyone was excited when the Apple Inc., a leading computer manufacturer and now dedicated on creating music-related products like the iPod, announced the release of iPhone during the Mac World Conference & Expo last January 9, 2007. It would make a big break for cellular phone users, music lovers and Internet enthusiasts if it can beat other competent mobile phones as many of it has the same features as that of iPhone.
iPhone is a smartphone that lets you experience the use of a phone, music player, text messaging and web browsing. It is a GSM quad-band phone available with 4GB and 8GB internal flash memory. A high memory like this, which is very unusual for a mobile phone, allow you to store files such as music and videos as well as the phone’s operating system which is Mac OS X v10.4.8 and powered by ARM processor.
iPhone’s dimension is 155 x 61 x 11.6mm that enables you to hold it vertically or horizontally and weighs about 135g. It has a 3.5” screen larger than the iPod as well as it does not carry the iPod’s scroll wheel thus replacing it with a one physical menu button. You’re able to use iPhone with your bare fingers because of its touch screen feature unlike other phones that uses stylus pen for its user interface. For text input, a virtual keyboard appears at the iPhone’s touch screen. It has a automatic spell checker, predictive word capabilities and dynamic dictionary.
Another awesome feature of it was the photo album and web page magnification in where you only need to pinch it by placing your thumb and forefinger over the display and moving your fingers father apart or closer together as zoom in and out. You can do scrolling by sliding a finger over the display too. iPhone has also the usual features of a phone such as call, call holding, caller ID, call merging, and conferencing. Similar to iChat, text messaging is possible wherein messages are displayed in speech bubbles under the recipient’s name.
iPhone possess a 2 megapixel camera equipped with video and software that allows you to view, upload and send or transfer photos to other people through its Bluetooth and USB connection or email, with it’s Internet capacity using GPRS, Wi-Fi, and Cingular’s EDGE. Its unique features of three sensors are stunning. Proximity sensor that shuts off the display to save power, ambient light sensor that adjusts the display brightness, and accelometer that senses the orientation of the phone.
It has three side buttons despite of its fully touchscreen-driven interface. These are the home button which takes you back to the main menu, on the left side was the volume controller, and the ringer controller. Turning off the ringer lets your phone use its vibration capability automatically enables for the user to know if someone is calling. It doesn’t affect the audio or speaker capability when you use the music interface unless you’re using headphones.
iPhone is amazingly beautiful with its optical-glass façade that fits the stainless steel rim with a rear made of finely milled aluminum. It is only available in color black. It uses standard earphones for its 3.5m headphone jack and comes with a solid and durable charging dock that uses USB cable connected to the phone’s adapter. iPhone may lack some phone features such as 3G but it’s features could still be considered a high caliber against other available mobile phones.
